About Us

Canolfan Calon Taf is a centre which is funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, Welsh Government Transforming Towns, and Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council. Our goal is to provide the park users a greater understanding of the park’s heritage.

Calon-Taf-ExteriorWe’re proud to celebrate the park’s 100 year history, as we look forward to Ynysangharad War Memorial Park’s evergreen future.

The centre itself contains a training room with a large digital screen and small kitchen area. This area can be used as a clear space, or individuals can make use of our moveable table and chairs to create a conference or lecture style environment.

To one side of the training room is Calon Taf’s offices, and on the other side there are 2 accessible toilets.

Greenhouse and Raised Beds

The  garden area of Calon Taf is an area that will continue to grow as we develop a stronger relationship with the community that surrounds us. The centre has numerous raised beds and a large greenhouse that are in need of avid gardeners and green fingered volunteers. Please contact us if you’d like to get involved with Calon Taf’s garden area.

Bandstand

The Bandstand has brought music and joy to Ynysangharad War Memorial Park since 1926. With thanks to the National Lottery Heritage Fund, in 2022 work began on lovingly renovating the Bandstand to continue its melodic legacy. Calon Taf take great pride in residing alongside such a treasured location of the park, and we promise to continue to fill this space with music and joy.

Sunken Garden

The sunken garden can be found between the War Memorial area and the Tennis courts. The garden is there for those who’d like a moment of solace. Whilst visiting the garden, we invite you to read about the legacy of our miners, and how the Miners’ Welfare Fund helped provide a park for its people. We would like to thank the National Lottery Heritage Fund for their help in maintaining the garden.
